Assorted brushes (sizes 12 and 6 work great)
a jar of water
a rag or paper towel.
Instructions:
1. Creating the Background: Using your larger brush, dampen it slightly and blend your chosen colors for the background. Feel free to experiment, letting your artistic instincts guide you. Add depth and texture with varying strokes and colors until you're satisfied.
2. Mapping out the foliage & leaves: Switch to a smaller brush to outline the glass jar and the leaves using shades of dark green. Don't worry about precision; this step is about rough placement and building the foundation of your artwork.
3. Painting the Daisies: With yellow ochre, start sketching the daisies, envisioning their placement. Remember, nature isn't perfect, so embrace randomness to make your daisies look natural. Vary dot sizes and positions for authenticity.
4. Adding Petals and Tones: Using warm and cool tones (pale pink and blue), add dimension to the petals. Play with your brushstrokes to create varying effects, mimicking the organic look of daisies.
5. Final Touches: Enhance highlights with white and light yellow, focusing on the centers of the flowers. Incorporate darker greens for shadows and luminosity in the greenery.
6. Detailing the Glass: Finally, outline and highlight the glass jar using blue and white tones, allowing the canvas's underlay to shine through lightly. Add reflections and subtle curves to give the glass a realistic appearance.
Voila! You've brought daisies to life on your canvas using acrylics. Remember, painting is all about creativity and expression, so feel free to add your personal touch and make it uniquely yours.
