This is my first magnolia painting in the collection. This is actually painted over an old artwork of palm trees that were never finished (more like abandoned). I love the idea of something evolving and changing to grow more beautiful and to let go of that which no longer serves us. I used abstract brush strokes which tell an interesting story up close, but still has a refined quality from afar. Using a palette knife allowed me to add impressionistic marks to give energy to the piece.
