I used a rubber wedge to glide the paint across the canvas, layering marks and brushstrokes to create a dynamic depth. The jagged edges evoke the raw, untamed beauty of the wild. Inspired by the rich greens, yellows, and pinks of the wild grasses in the Scottish Highlands, I wanted to capture the energy of their movement as they danced in the wind. The use of acrylic gel in certain areas allows for translucent colours to emerge, adding even more dimension to the piece.

It's an invitation to escape into the beauty of the Highlands, to imagine gathering wild heather in the breeze whenever you need a moment of peace and tranquillity. This scene was inspired by my time in Glencoe, Scotland, where I took many photos. There’s a special spot where the land flattens, and the mountains stand ever-present in the background.
