On the day this painting was inspired, the rain was pouring, the mountains wrapped in mist, and the waterfalls so full they spilled over the edges. Everywhere I looked, small waterfalls tumbled down the hills, creating a breathtaking scene of nature in motion. I wanted to capture the misty, wet essence of that moment using drip marks, abstract brushstrokes, and shimmering paint, bringing the scene to life with energy and fluidity.

There’s a dynamic quality to this painting—the movement of the water and the atmosphere draws you in and invites you to experience it. The same cottage from my painting ‘Momentary’ makes an appearance here, but from a completely different perspective, set against a backdrop of moody weather. I kept the painting loose and playful, careful not to overwork it, so it retained that raw, energetic feel.

This piece is all about celebrating the beauty of rainy days. While many would stay indoors, this painting encourages you to embrace the magic of misty rain, the freshness of wet air, and the sense of freedom that comes with being surrounded by mountains. That’s the feeling I wanted to evoke—the joy and calm that comes from being immersed in nature, even in the rain.

I found this scene to be especially meaningful when I revisited the site in summer and discovered the waterfall had disappeared.
