This painting was born from the fusion of four different references, carefully woven together to create a scene that feels expansive and serene.

With a clear palette of calming blues and greens, I wanted to evoke a sense of lightness and openness, inviting the viewer to breathe deeply and let go.

One of my favorite aspects of this piece is the way texture and colour come together in moments of detail. I used a combination of loose brush strokes and thick, textured palette knife work to create depth and movement. The painting began with a yellow ochre underpainting, which adds warmth and atmosphere, giving richness to the colors that subtly glow through the layers.

For me, this painting symbolizes seeing life from new perspectives. The viewpoint is taken directly from the river, and it encourages you to embrace the flow of life, even when you find yourself right in the middle of the stream.

It was important to me to keep an abstract quality in the marks—up close, you’ll notice the looseness and painterly style, but from a distance, the scene comes together in a serene way.
